About valve positioner

Article Details

It receives electrical signals from controllers (such as DCS, PLC, etc.), converts them into mechanical displacement or air pressure signals, and then drives the valve actuator to achieve precise positioning of the valve.

From a technical perspective, valve positioners usually work based on the principle of force balance or displacement balance.  When the control signal is input, the measuring components inside the positioner (such as the nozzle baffle mechanism, torque motor, etc.) will produce corresponding changes, and the signal output to the actuator will be adjusted through the feedback mechanism until the valve position is consistent with the set value.  This closed-loop control method greatly improves the control accuracy and response speed of the valve.

In terms of application scenarios, valve positioners are widely used in petroleum, chemical industry, electric power, metallurgy, water treatment and other industries.  For example, in petrochemical production, precise flow control is crucial to product quality and production safety. Valve positioners can ensure that regulating valves accurately adjust flow according to process requirements; in the power industry, key valves such as boiler feedwater valves and steam regulating valves are equipped with positioners to achieve stable control of steam pressure and temperature and improve power generation efficiency.
